Our Story

Matropolis™ started as a gift idea for my niece and my closest friends’ kids. I wanted something that was fun, safe, and unique - higher quality and more kid friendly than the generic, scratchy playrugs from my childhood. Growing up in Baltimore, a city with a lot of local pride, it made sense to start there.

It started with a sketch, from that drawing, we spent over a year prototyping, designing, testing samples, and experimenting with materials and designs until we finally felt proud of what we were making.

We found a premium manufacturer who was willing to work on smaller production runs. We thoughtfully engineered every part of the process; from the materials, design, and landmarks, to the packaging and box. Our quality and standards surpass the ASTM F963 - U.S. Toy Safety Standards.

Matropolis™ measurably impacts early learning and development. Between the ages of 0-6+, puzzle play supports motor skills, spatial reasoning, sensory development, and creativity. We provide a safe, engaging space to grow and explore without a screen involved.
